Certified solutions for the supply:
The filling and transfer station, drum station COMPLEX XXL by DÜPERTHAL takes into account the fire protection, environmental protection, as well as at filling and draining points. Through this work the safety standard is more than sufficient to meet the requirements for the modern economical handling of hazardous materials in drums of up to 200 litres. The technical features of the unit with its optional possibilities give users unique flexibility for tapping media combined with ergonomics and safety that make no compromises.
Innovative Combination
The fire resistance of the drum station COMPLEX XXL was determined according to DIN EN 14470-1 in an approved fire room and classified as being Type 90.
The station consists of 2 modules connected via media pipes:
The removal and storage unit. Each separate module has a collecting volume of 220 l.
The whole filling and transfer station has successfully been tested for safety by TÜV Süd and approved for operation in accordance with TRbF 20 Appendix L as well as TRbF 30.
Ventilation and Ex Zones
According to TRbF 20, Annex L, safety cabinets for passive storage under permanent, defined conditions do not have to be connected to the ventilation. A substantial reason for this is that closed vessels only may be stored in conventional safety cabinets. Connection to the ventilation is a mandatory requirement for active storage. According to TRbF 30, critical "ex-zones" (hazardous area zones) occur when containers are opened. To ensure safe operation despite the risk due to the resulting ex-zones, one ATEX compliant ventilation monitoring must be connected as a minimum requirement. In addition, the solvent vapours must be extracted at each cabinet level and directly at the tap. Further, the internal volume of the cabinet must be exchanged with a ten-fold or higher air exchange per hour. If no ventilation is available on site it must be established with an ATEX compliant additional unit. The installed exhaust monitoring emits an alarm if the ventilation fails and indicates visually and acoustically that filling and transfer of media is no longer allowed.
Easy Loading and Unloading
For the loading of the storage unit with a 200-litre drum DÜPERTHAL offers an optional drum lifter for metal and plastic drums. The mobile lifting unit represents a link between the delivered drum and drum station COMPLEX XXL.
This combination offers the user an optimal solution for safely transporting the drum to the filling and transfer station and for problem-free assembly of the storage unit. To optimise handling when equipping the cabinet, DÜPERTHAL's portfolio includes an additional draw shelf with a load bearing capacity of 250 kg as an extra feature.
Ex-Protected Pump System
During the next stage, the compressed-air driven drum pump for flammable liquids is connected to the pre-installed media pipe and energy supply that is ready to plug in, e.g. compressed air system – with max. 4 bar. The compressed air valve offers additionally a double safety and a limitation of compressed air.
The motor of the wearless pump is permitted for the hazardous location "zone 1" and the pump station with residue emptying is permitted for "zone 0“.
Safe and Rational Working
After preparing the drum station COMPLEX XXL, the media can now be transferred from the 200-litre drum (storage unit) to smaller drums (removal unit). The removal unit has a bottom tray with a volume greater than 220 litres and a grid, which is used as a bearing surface and stacking area for safety cans. The cans are filled by means of the standard integrated nozzle.
A plus of safety for the operator offers thereby the extraction of the object directly at the tap.
For safety reasons, the nozzle is provided with a control lever that closes automatically. When the doors are closed in regular operation or close automatically in the event of fire, the power supply of the pump is disconnected and operation is stopped automatically
Avoidance of Ignition Risks
A further positive aspect with respect to safety is the continuous earthing in accordance with the TRbF 30 requirements for "filling stations" and the guidelines of the employer's liability insurance association BGR 132 "Avoidance of damage of ignition". This requirement is solved in DÜPERTHAL's cabinets in that all metal components inside the cabinet are conductively connected with each other, e.g. bottom trays and grating. Further, the drum station COMPLEX has been equipped with earthing terminals for the drum, the drum pump and the container to be filled. All hoses carrying media are made of conductive plastic to prevent static charging from arising as a result of the media flow. Prepared earthing connections are provided on the top of the cabinet which enable the user to connect the system to the earthing and therefore prevent static charging.
All in all, the filling and transfer station COMPLEX line with its standard equipment is the solution for safe active storage and filling of 200-litre drums with flammable and water-polluting liquids.

With the canister cabinets TAP line XL and LL DÜPERTHAL now supplies the solution for all kinds of different space problems, as there can be stored up to 21 different containers safely in the new TAP line safety canister cabinets. Even different canister sizes are no problem. 5-l, 10-l and 20-l or 50 l drums can be placed horizontal effortlessly.
The use of reusable canisters is particularly interesting for environmentally certified companies. Cost savings can even be achieved on purchase of the DÜPERTHAL safety cabinet, as larger container units of up to 20 l can be purchased and stored.
The Interior
The TAP line canister safety cabinet’s well thought out interior is an additional convincing reason to buy it. A special pull-out shelf helps to safely fill smaller containers and a large collection tray in the bottom of the cabinet catches liquids in an emergency. All shelves are suitable for any size of canister, can be practically set at an individual level and are also earthed. A further positive practical aspect is that the safety cabinet can be externally connected to existing in-house earthing conductors. In addition, the TAP line canister cabinet can be actively stored and is certified by TÜV SÜD.
The latest highlight DISPOSAL UTS ST for safe disposal of hazardous substances – a certified disposal system for flammable liquids. The certified solution consists of::
A.) Safety cabinet
The safety cabinet is classified type 90 (fire resistance of 90 minutes) according to DIN EN 14470-1 and has available of variegated fittings. The GS certificate issued by TÜV Süd confirms that the cabinet conforms to the valid standards, EN 14470-1 and EN 14727 (laboratory furniture standard). But that is not all – the tested safety cabinet does not become a GS certified system solution until other safety components have been added and tests have been passed.
B.) Safety components
The safety cabinet has an integrated pipe penetration, including a filler pipe made from stainless steel Ø 20 mm, for adding media to the materials be disposed of. The feed inlet can be connected to a disposal or funnel system of a laboratory fume hood or hazardous substances workplace available on site. The stainless steel pipe leads into the inside of the cabinet and ends directly above a canister with level indicator and funnel. The collection container is made from conductive polyethylene and the funnel with flame screen is made from stainless steel. In this way, flammable liquids can be safely added from the outside, directly into the collection container. To prevent static discharges, as a standard feature, all metal parts are connected to equipotential bonding saddles on the rear of the cabinet in accordance with BGR 132 and TRBS 2153 (prevention of ignition hazards). The conductive polyethylene canister is also connected to the metal parts by a removable flexible connection.
C.) Ventilation
Due to the open container, or container to be opened during the work process, in accordance with TRbF 30 more critical potentially explosive zones occur compared to the zone classification of TRbF 20-L. Therefore, for active storage, safety cabinets must be connected to industrial ventilation with at least 10-fold air exchange per hour and the ventilation's function must be monitored. The required air exchange per hour must be complied with in order to implement the appropriate facility for directing the air flow and for object and level extraction.
In the DISPOSAL UTS ST, in conformity with the standards, the solvent vapours produced are picked up directly above the bottom tray. In addition, the system has object extraction in accordance with TRbF 30, i.e. the ventilation is effective directly at the container filling point within the safety cabinet. In this way, vapours released due to the crossover from the filler pipe to the container and vapour which escapes from the collection container are also picked up. The ATEX compliant electronic exhaust monitoring of the DISPOSAL UTS ST - included in the scope - can easily be integrated in an existing ventilation system.
Additional convenience with new operating technique
The small innovation marvel has a new, unique user friendly feature: When the wing door is opened, the integrated pull-out tray automatically moves towards the user. This technique provides fast access to the stored media with a single action. The new system enables clear, manageable storage and, in the event of a fire, the cabinet is of course automatically closed by the thermal trigger.
Ergonomics – ingenious 85 mm
Apart from easy door opening with automatic pull-out trays, with the new ToeKick base, the development engineers at DÜPERTHAL have set a further example with respect to ergonomics. Until now, base options available for customary under-bench cabinets on the market were low and were flush with the front of the cabinet. This solution, not always the most comfortable, has been considered to be the state of the art standard for years.
The new ToeKick base is the first option to provide a real solution! The base is 85 mm high and is set back by 50 mm, which provides sufficient space to prevent users from knocking their feet against it. Further, it is now possible to work closer to the new DISPOSAL UTS ST and with greater balance. Long established features such as base extraction or roller set, for easy installation of the safety cabinet are of course still available here.
The TÜV SÜD certificate is thereby an important brick in your risk assessment. Count therefore on certified system solutions for the active storage.
